The Innovation Crowd

The City of Casey in partnership with Cardinia Shire along with the support of Federation University, Casey Tech School and industry experts have been working on a framework that will support local startups.

The vision for ‘The INNovation Crowd’ is to build a 'place-based' startup ecosystem that is recognised as the number one destination in the south east region of Melbourne for local entrepreneurs to start their journey. We want to build a sustainable ecosystem that identifies, nurtures and builds the capacity of entrepreneurs and startups by providing the support and tools needed for them to become successful.

By leveraging the local community's growing infrastructure, resources and talent, we will help them network, develop their skills, access mentoring, collaborate, test their ideas, grow and go to the next stage of their journey. The INNovation Crowd is a program for startups and entrepreneurs in the Casey and Cardinia region.

The City of Casey is very excited to be leading this initiative to create a startup culture in the region where innovative start-up businesses/entrepreneurs can come together, receive training and mentoring from experts, collaborate with others, test their ideas and find opportunities for commercialisation of their product/service.

To improve access and participation in this program, LaunchVic have provided $198,250 as a part of their Round 6 funding which supports Local Council Startup Communities to deliver a variety of programs and activities. Find out more about LaunchVic and the funding announcement at their website

If you are a local startup entrepreneur with an innovative business idea and would like to connect with other like-minded person in the area, please register and you will be contacted with details of upcoming events, such as meetups/networking, mentoring and training opportunities. The INNovation Crowd events are open to anyone in the Casey Cardinia region who has an innovative business idea and the drive to make it work. In May 2018 over 30 local startup businesses were consulted at stakeholder engagement forum to learn what a startup eco-system would look like and what essential support services should be included. Their suggestions and ideas have now been incorporated into the framework for The INNovation Crowd.
