Hospitality Guidelines: Minimum Must-Do's

As Victoria relaxes more restictions and continues to allow larger groups of people to gather, it's still important to continue to operate safely and within Government mandated guidelines. To make things easier, the Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry have developed a quickly accessible list of must-do's (current as at 18 June 2020).

Hospitality Guidelines

To ensure you are operating safely during COVID19 restrictions, at a minimum you must:

  • Have your venue set up to adhere to patron and table size limits and physical distancing of dining groups this includes:
    • A density quotient of 1 patron per 4 square metres of the total floorspace accessible to patrons
    • A maximum 20 patrons per enclosed space but subject to dot point above
    • Tables spaced a minimum 1.5m
  • Display signage at the entrance to your venue that advises the maximum number of patrons allowed inside at any time. Click here to access and print this template
  • Have one staff member complete the Victorian Government free online coronavirus (COVID-19) training. Click here to access the online training module
  • Record patron contact details for guests dining more than 15 minutes in your venue. Details should be collected when making a reservation or on entry to the venue, with name and a contact number of all guests recorded, including children.
  • Protect staff and patron wellbeing by ensuring personal hygiene measures are in place as well as ensuring workers are complying with health advice and are not unwell.
  • Establish new processes and schedules for cleaning and sanitising to maintain good hygiene at your venue, including frequent cleaning of high touch points such as doors, handles, chairs, handrails and menus
