Any business, any size (from home-based businesses to large employers), based in the City of Casey and /or Cardinia Shire and trading for a minimum of 12 months.

The awards are assessed by a voluntary panel of business experts drawn from private enterprise, government and tertiary education. Judges are independent from council. The judging panel will assess entries against an evaluation scorecard to develop a short list of businesses. This scorecard is directly linked to the questions asked in the award submission forms. Judges may request a site visit to support your application.

The Casey Cardinia Business of the Year Award is a final award and awarded for overall business excellence. It is also separately assessed and awarded overall by the judging panel from all category winners.
Yes, you may enter in up to two categories. Choose the industry category that best describes your business however. See description of award categories for assistance. Focus on the specific strengths of your business - your objectives and outcomes - which category best represents your success and impact. Still need help in deciding the category to enter? Yes, your support documentation (e.g.attachments, media material etc) can be attached to the online application. It must be submitted with your application and arrive at the same time. Ensure any documentation supports or adds value to your submission.
Council’s City Economy Department are available to assist you with any questions you may have and are available to meet with you at your premises by appointment only.
The judging panel may request a visit to your premises in support of your application. Should a request be made, you will be contacted by Council’s City Economy Department to confirm a time and date.
Expect an onsite visit by 2-3 judges. This visit will take between 30-45 minutes approximately. During this visit, focus on the positives/strengths of your business. Explain how you’ve overcome or plan to overcome any obvious gaps or problems with your business. You are also welcome to have documents on hand that would add value/support your application. Feel free to also show the judges around your business if convenient.
Yes. Finalists will be announced prior to the Awards presentation at an event to which all applicants will be invited.
Tickets will be released for sale shortly after the Finalist Announcement.
Should you be nominated as a finalist, media partner, Star News Group, will also be in contact with you to arrange for a photographer to visit your premises for publicity purposes. Should be you nominated as a finalist, audio/visual firm, Filmtime Media, will also be in contact with you to arrange a convenient time to visit your premises for filming. This filming will remain the property of the City of Casey and Cardinia Shire Council, and will be used for the purpose of highlighting your business at events relevant to the Business Awards.
There is no restriction on how many people you would like to attend. However, places are limited because of the venue’s capacity so it is important that you book early to avoid disappointment. You may book by table or by seat(s).
As this is a night to be celebrated and remembered, we encourage you to bring management and staff of your business with you to the stage to collect your award.
Yes. Information sessions will be held prior to applications opening.
Information sessions are free of charge however registration is essential.
